engstaff-in is recruiting on behalf of their client, a specialist fire consultancy operating across high-rise and complex commercial buildings. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Fire Compliance Officer or Senior Fire Compliance Officer to support the delivery of fire compliance, façade, and remediation services across a varied project portfolio.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Clerk of Works / Building Control professional with strong high-rise construction knowledge, particularly façades, fire stopping, and external wall systems. You will sit between surveyors, engineers, contractors, and building owners, acting as a technical authority and key communicator, ensuring fire safety compliance from design through to construction and remediation.
Key Responsibilities- Review and quality-control detailed site audit reports, ensuring photographic and written evidence is clear, accurate, and robust.
- Assess audit findings and determine the most appropriate course of action for remediation.
- Undertake and review site compliance audits in line with UK Building Regulations and manufacturer guidance.
- Provide peer review and quality assurance across fire compliance workstreams.
- Act as a technical interface between surveyors, engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Identify fire risks relating to cladding systems, curtain walling, rain-screen façades, fire stopping, and cavity barriers.
- Manage and support remediation projects involving fire stopping, cavity barriers, and façade systems.
- Review BBA certificates, product substitutions, and technical documentation.
- Engage confidently with contractors, including challenging non-compliant works and managing conflict professionally.
- Support tender reviews and provide technical input into contractor proposals.
- Produce clear, professional technical reports suitable for clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Strong experience in construction, ideally high-rise buildings (4+ storeys).
- Background as a Clerk of Works, Building Control Officer, or similar technical compliance role.
- Experience working with or for sub-contractors (particularly fire stopping / façade packages).
- Solid understanding of frame buildings, façade interfaces, and warranty risk management.
- Cavity barriers.
- Commercial and high-rise residential projects.
- Member of the Clerk of Works.
- MCIOB, MRICS, MCABE (or working towards).
