The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for a heavyweight M&E Site Manager with a specialist Mechanical bias to lead the on-site delivery of a flagship, multi-million-pound infrastructure project in Newquay. This is a high-profile, complex build requiring a technical lead who excels in high-spec environments. We are looking for a manager who isn’t just a coordinator, but a mechanical specialist capable of managing high-value packages that are critical to large-scale infrastructure. If you thrive on technical complexity and leading large-scale teams on-site, this is the contract for you.

The Role

You will be the primary technical lead for all mechanical services on the floor. This role requires a manager who understands the "how and why" of an installation and can bridge the gap between technical drawings and physical delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Leadership: Full oversight of HVAC, primary plant rooms, and complex piping systems from first-fix through to final commissioning.
  • Technical Quality Control: Benchmarking all mechanical works and personally witnessing critical testing, including pressure tests, pipework flushing, and water treatment.
  • Sub-contractor Drive: Managing specialized sub-contractor teams to ensure the schedule is maintained without compromising on technical quality.
  • On-Site Coordination: Identifying and resolving spatial clashes or design-to-build discrepancies on the floor to keep the project on the critical path.
  • Safety & Compliance: Managing high-risk Permits to Work and RAMS within a strictly controlled, high-stakes environment.
  • Commissioning: Leading the testing and commissioning phase to ensure all systems meet the high-performance requirements of the facility.

The Candidate

We are looking for a specialist with a "boots on the ground" mentality. You must be able to demonstrate:

  • Mechanical Depth: A strong background in mechanical engineering or installation, with a proven track record of managing large-scale, high-value mechanical packages.
  • Infrastructure History: Extensive experience on multi-million-pound infrastructure projects where technical standards are uncompromising.
  • Technical Proficiency: The ability to interpret 3D Revit models and manage digital snagging and progress reporting via tools like BIM 360, Procore, or Field View.
  • Delivery Focus: A history of taking projects through the full lifecycle—from initial site setup to final handover and commissioning.

Location: Committed to a consistent Monday–Friday site presence in the Newquay area for the 6–12 month duration.
