Training Requirements

  • You must be over 22 years old.
  • Live in Harrogate or surrounding areas.
  • Have held a full driving licence for at least 3.5 years and have not been disqualified.
  • Commit to at least five hours a week to train as a driving instructor.
  • Must be able to read a number plate from 27.5 m.
  • Have an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (cost £8.22).
  • Have patience and understanding; some pupils learn faster than others.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Points holders should be aware that the Driving Standards Agency may reject your application if you have more than 3 points.

Applicants must have a car to practice driving.
