Course Details
Your full driving instructor course runs between 3 to 18 months, depending on your learning pace and personal commitments. The curriculum includes a structured combination of theory‑based learning, one‑to‑one theory sessions, and on‑road practical training, ensuring you are fully prepared when you complete the course.
Requirements
- You must be over 22 years of age.
- You must live in Chester‑le‑Street or surrounding areas.
- You must have held a full driving licence for at least 3.5 years and must not have been disqualified.
- You must commit to at least five hours a week for training as a driving instructor.
- You must be able to read a number plate from 27.5 metres.
- You must have an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
- You must possess patience and understanding, recognising that pupils learn at different speeds.
- You must have excellent communication skills.
- Point holders must be aware that the Driving Standards Agency may reject an application if you have more than 3 points.
Note: A personal vehicle is required to practice driving during the course.
