This is an exciting role for a dance professional committed to nurturing the next generation of creative dancers. You will have a track record of teaching class in ballet and contemporary techniques and working collaboratively with guest choreographers and creatives. You will seek to develop each dancer’s potential, developing their artistic voice and providing leadership to bring the dancers together as one professional youth dance company, representing English National Ballet (ENB) at numerous youth dance platforms and wider performance opportunities.
This engagement is offered as a freelance, self‑employed contractor role, covering June 2026 – July 2028, and working across two academic years. You will have the opportunity to support young dancers on their individual journeys, setting them up to thrive beyond their time at ENBYouthCo. Responsibilities- Strive for excellence and represent ballet and contemporary dance in the youth dance sector
- Provide an exciting and engaging platform for young dancers in training
- Provide inspiring, high quality technique classes, choreographic and performance opportunities
- Provide an authentic dance experience by providing access to the company through watching performances, attending talks, meeting Company dancers and interacting with members of the artistic team
- Provide a sense of progression and development, allowing each participant to find their identity as a dancer
- Continue to communicate and support young dancers beyond their time with ENBYouthCo through summer residencies and alumni networking opportunities
- Strong track record of professional teaching experience with experience of developing talent in young creatives, supporting prospective pathways
- Completed full‑time dance training at an accredited dance college or completed a dance degree course at university
- Experienced in working creatively and possess strong choreographic skills
- Ability to understand and recognise the importance of the pastoral role of working with young people
- Knowledge of, or ability to gain knowledge of opportunities for young artists, within the context of performance, collaboration and careers
