English National Ballet is looking for a Company Pianist to play for company class and rehearsals. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the role is an integral part of the Artistic Team, working to the same Artistic schedule and touring venues to support the dancers and ballet teaching staff. The Company performs in venues in London, nationally and internationally. The role will deliver a high standard of playing across a wide range of classical and modern repertoire, and this can include newly commissioned works. In addition, for the most experienced pianists, there will be the opportunity to play at scheduled performances, as agreed with senior Artistic management. A permanent position and a Fixed Term position for 6 months are both available from the end of July 2026.
Key Selection Criteria
- Professional level pianistic abilities, able to play full length orchestral scores in rehearsal.
- Experience in accompanying ballet classes and rehearsals at a professional level.
- Ability to deliver a consistent high standard of work and level of playing in all settings.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Physical and mental stamina to sustain concentration and focus over extended periods of time.
- Ability to build up good knowledge of the piano scores across the full range of repertoire.
