We are looking for a Head of Site Trading to join our team. You\’ll work on a permanent basis, the role can be full-time or part-time working a minimum of 28.8 hours per week.
Leading a national trading team, you can be based in one of our regional office locations (York, Bristol, Swindon, London) or one of our site-based offices (Dover Castle, Wrest Park) or be a homeworker. You will be expected to travel to English Heritage offices and sites nationally.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has a higher education qualification or degree in management, leisure or a related discipline and/or significant senior level experience in a related area.
As Head of Site Trading, you will be responsible for driving the commercial business across our historic properties – delivering the existing core business activity and developing the product offer to support the charity\’s income and growth strategy.
You will work closely with the property and territory teams in particular to provide a sector leading trading proposition to maximise profit ensuring brand alignment. You will focus on driving profitability and will identify creative and innovative opportunities for growth.
You will lead and empower a team of subject matter trading experts to evolve the Charity\’s trading and visitor proposition, performance and profitability. You will have excellent leadership and management experience, strong communication and influencing skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally.
To be considered for the role of Head of Site Trading, you\’ll have experience:
- Leading at senior level
- Being accountable for business performance across multiple sites including responsibility for significant operating budget.
- Developing and implementing strategies and delivering plans within complex organisations with clear evidence of success.
- Running a department of mixed disciplines with dispersed activities.
- Historic properties, visitor attractions or related businesses operated on a multi-site basis.
