Summary
We are looking for a results-driven Business Development Manager to help grow our business by managing key accounts, finding new opportunities, and shaping our marketing strategy. You will report to the General Manager and work closely with a small internal sales and customer service team. The role will be based out of Bury, BL9 8RZ with free on-site parking, and mix of office, travel, and event work.
Responsibilities of a Business Development Manager
- Account Management: Manage key accounts and support smaller customers in the UK and abroad. Build strong relationships and meet sales targets. Create and follow account plans and support marketing efforts through trade customers.
- New Business: Find and win new strategic accounts with support from the marketing team. Build and manage a strong pipeline of leads. Drive sales from first contact to closing. Work with the General Manager to close deals.
- Marketing: Help shape marketing strategies that support sales goals. Align sales efforts with marketing campaigns for maximum impact.
Requirements to be successful as a Business Development Manager
- 3 - 5 years sales experience, ideally in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of sectors like fire & rescue, outdoor leisure, or defence is a plus—or a technical/mechanical background if not.
- Comfortable travelling in the UK and abroad.
- Strong relationship-builder and communicator.
- Organised and goal focused.
- Confident with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Fluent in English; other European languages are a bonus.
Hours
Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00. The role will be based out of Bury; however, there will be frequent travel to include foreign travel and overnight stays to visit customers and exhibit at trade shows in-line with the target marketplace. There will be a requirement to work outside of standard hours on occasions for business needs.
