Our Company English & Soft Skills is a Morocco-based recruitment partner specialising in placements within reputable international schools. Our client, an established British institution in Rabat, Morocco, is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of English & EAL to lead its English language provision. This role combines academic leadership, curriculum oversight, and team management, with a strong focus on delivering the British curriculum, including IGCSE and A Levels, while supporting students for whom English is an additional language.
- Lead and manage the English & EAL departments, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Oversee the delivery of the British curriculum (up to IGCSE and A Levels) in English.
- Maintain a teaching commitment in English, including at IGCSE and/or A Level.
- Develop and implement an effective EAL strategy to support language acquisition across all key stages.
- Recruit, mentor, and appraise teaching staff.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on whole-school academic strategy.
- Build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.
Proven leadership experience (5-10 years) in English and/or EAL within a British curriculum setting. Strong knowledge of IGCSE and A Level English programmes accepted - in which case the applicant must have knowledge of the Bell Foundation Assessment Framework, the Oxford Placement Test, and adaptive intervention strategies. Demonstrated success in supporting EAL learners in an international school environment. Fluent in English (native or near-native level); French is a plus. Relevant teaching qualification and leadership experience required.
