These exciting roles support the ECB Match Referee Panel, appointed as the ECB representative monitoring and supporting Men’s and Women’s First-Class cricket. The panel covers all professional cricket from April/May to September. The Match Referee role allows the ECB Cricket Operations Department to respond to events and provide excellent service and support to the game.

YOU’LL BE DOING
- Develop supportive relationships with umpires, groundstaff, coaches, captains and players, media and administrative staff and provide first responder information to stakeholders.
- Observe, de‑brief and provide constructive verbal and written performance feedback to umpires after each match.
- Provide ECB with pitch performance feedback and support pitch investigation process.
- Conduct disciplinary hearing related to alleged fixed penalty conduct breach.
- Report to ECB on matters relating to conduct of players and support personnel.
- Conduct post‑match de‑briefs with captains and venue grounds managers and provide post‑match reports.
- Oversee ECB Replacement Player Regulations process at each match.
- Support implementation of ECB PMOA anti‑corruption regulations.
- Support other ECB regulations where required.
YOU’LL HAVE
- The right to work in the UK.
- High levels of emotional intelligence and self‑awareness.
- Good judgement skills and a strong sense of fairness.
- A current good level and working knowledge of men’s and/or women’s professional cricket.
- An ability to gain a working knowledge of the Laws of Cricket, ECB playing conditions and regulations.
- High level of observational detail and an ability to work with efficiency, calmness, flexibility, and good humour.
- Adaptability, self‑starter and good dispute resolution skills.
- Empathy and awareness of the roles of umpires, coaches and groundstaff.
- An ability to provide clear, constructive performance feedback.
- The ability to facilitate post‑match discussions to bring closure on the events of each match.
