An opportunity has arisen for a Medical Services Equipment and Logistics Coordinator to join our Medical team on a casual basis.

The Role

We are looking for a Medical Services Equipment and Logistics Coordinator to join our Medical Services Team and to support with the provision of immediate care, other medical equipment, medical consumables and medicines for England representative team training camps, competitions, matches and RFU hosted rugby festivals and events. Supported by the Clinical Services Lead and Medical Services Operations Lead, the post holder will be responsible for organising the required maintenance, servicing, stock taking and ordering of our medical equipment and consumables to ensure that medical minimum standards, clinical governance guidelines and medicine management regulations are adhered to.

The Team

This role will join the Professional Rugby Department (PRD) Medical Services Team who are led by Medical Services Director and are made up of the Medical Services Clinical Services Lead / England Senior Team Doctor, Medical Services Operations Lead, Medical Research Lead, Anti-Doping and Illicit Drug Programme Manager, Men’s Pathway Team Doctor, Red Roses Team Doctor, Athletic Performance and Medical Services co-ordinator and the contracted medics supporting our representative teams.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Medical operational support for PRD team camps, festivals and events (and some larger RFU-led community events).
  • Stock checking, ordering and packing trauma equipment and doctor medication and suture boxes.
  • Liaising with team and event managers to ensure collection and return of medical equipment from camps and events and returning items to correct storage locations at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.
  • Updating the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system with any medication usage/wastage when applicable.
  • Maintaining medical equipment and consumables stock levels and tracking spreadsheets.
  • Placing equipment orders.
  • Liaising with the Clinical Services Lead to place medication orders.
  • Taking receipt of order deliveries, with support from Athletic Performance & Medical Services Team Coordinator.
  • Organising servicing of medical equipment such as hydraulic plinths, ultrasound machines, Biodex Machine, GameReady units, Alter-G treadmill etc.
  • Liaising with the Allianz Stadium Match Day Player Medical Lead on ensuring the Players Medical Room is fully stocked with medication and equipment needed for matches.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicine Management processes and chain of custody.
  • Effectively build relationships and collaborate with team medics and our medical suppliers.
  • Stay up to date with current thinking and best practice, proposing recommendations on improvements we can make to improve processes.
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the current strategic, business and operational plans.
  • Act as an ambassador for, and promote the best interests of the RFU, including the promotion of our culture and core values – This Rose Means Everyone: Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other.
  • Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the organisation.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

The skills and attributes outlined in this description are not exhaustive and we welcome candidates who can bring different relevant experiences to the role. This role requires specialist healthcare knowledge and we believe is best suited to someone with previous professional experience as an Allied Health Care Professional (such as a Nurse, Paramedic, ODP, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of clinical governance and medicine management principles.
  • Ability to physically carry and move medical equipment such as Trauma bags, scoop stretchers, hard Peli cases.
  • Full clean drivers licence (will need to drive between storage locations at Allianz Stadium Twickenham, Bagshot, Egham etc).
  • Ability to work flexibly across different days of the week if required.
  • Ability to work independently and with high levels of autonomy.
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
  • Effective communicator able to confidently deliver clear written and verbal messages.
  • Experience of operational delivery with a can-do problem solving attitude.
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft software packages such as Word, Excel etc.
