An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Media Manager to join our Marketing team, leading the delivery of a best-in-class social media strategy across England Rugby channels. This role will play a pivotal part in driving audience growth, engagement and commercial value, while leading and developing a team of content specialists and working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation.
England Rugby is seeking a dynamic and creative senior social media manager to deliver our content strategy across operated channels and help us achieve our business objectives as well as departmental goals. You will lead a team of highly creative Content Producers, while also managing key agencies and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This is a role suited to someone who is comfortable working in a high-performance sports environment and has experience managing social media channels for a major sports team, rights holder or media organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering and leading the strategy of England Rugby's social media channels, including Red Roses and Community Rugby.
- Lead a team to improve the quality, reach and engagement of the England Rugby and associated social media channels.
- Working closely with key stakeholders, commercial partners and across marketing & commercial to ensure growth and engagement.
- Utilise data and analytics to improve performance and identify new trends.
- Oversee social media use at the RFU from professional game to community rugby channels.
- Work with commercial partners to develop new content strands and help them maximise their digital rights.
- Work closely with rest of marketing team to develop content around key strategic priorities including conversion of social media audiences to the RFU database.
- Analyse, report and identify new trends and performance of content on a regular basis.
- Work with marketing team to develop our influencer strategy.
- Champion social media across the organisation and commercial partners.
- Manage England Rugby's appointed social media and digital agency.
- Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the current strategic, business and operational plans.
- Act as an ambassador for, and promote the best interests of the RFU, including the promotion of our culture and core values – This Rose Means Everyone: Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other.
- Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the organisation.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience of working in social media.
- Candidates should be educated to degree level standard or above or have an equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
- You will have demonstrable experience in a relevant role and discipline.
- Experience in a similar role at a high-profile rights-holder, brand or specialist agency.
- Experience working to tight deadlines in a high-paced environment.
- Experience in altering tone and output depending on the delivery platform.
- Wide knowledge of domestic and international rugby.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload and react positively to situations at short notice.

- Commitment to actively contributing and building an inclusive culture in your role and day to day behaviours.
- Experience in use of, or willingness to learn, Photoshop and video editing software, such as Premier Pro, also desirable.
