The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the national governing body for Rugby Union in England, responsible for promoting, developing, and safeguarding the game at all levels. Over the past two years, the RFU has undertaken an extensive review of how community rugby is structured and delivered, with a clear vision: to enable more people to play rugby, and for longer.

As part of this transformation, the RFU is creating seven Regional Growth Partnership Boards – dynamic and responsive engines to accelerate growth and engagement. Each board will be tasked with driving participation, building partnerships, and unlocking funding opportunities within their region. These Regional Bodies will have devolved decision-making powers and a mandate to:

  • Develop the sport by bringing new people to the game.
  • Build high-level relationships to benefit rugby.
  • Manage devolved RFU funding for growth.
  • Generate external revenue to reinvest in the game.

To lead this exciting new chapter, we are seeking Independent Chairs for each Regional Board. These individuals will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, fostering collaboration, and championing the RFU’s vision to grow the game for future generations. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of rugby in England and ensure the sport thrives in every community.
