England Athletics is the National Governing Body for sport in England and is seeking to strengthen its Board with two exceptional individuals to serve as Non‑Executive Directors. The successful candidates will join the Board at a critical time for the sport and will help drive the next phase of our strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make significant contributions to the Board of England Athletics and support the organisation in achieving its strategic goals.
  • Support national level competition, major events, and the Commonwealth Games partnership.
  • Chair or closely supervise key board committees, including:
    • Audit & Assurance Committee (required for Director #1)
    • Commercial Advisory Group (required for Director #2)
  • The Board meets approximately 6‑8 times per year, and Board Members will also be appointed to one or more committee or task group.

Qualifications – Director #1 (Financial/Audit)

  • ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualifications
  • Strong financial background, such as experience as a Financial Director or Senior Finance Manager
  • Experience providing strategic, governance and risk management oversight
  • Willingness to devote the necessary time and chair the Audit & Assurance Committee

Qualifications – Director #2 (Commercial)

  • Strong commercial background at a senior level
  • Expertise in commercial strategy, business development, sustainable growth, and sponsorship
  • Experience providing independent scrutiny
  • Willingness to devote the necessary time and develop and chair a newly formed commercial advisory group
