Gillingham Anchorians Hockey Club is a vibrant and inclusive club dedicated to promoting hockey in the local community. We focus on developing players of all ages and skill levels, fostering a love for the game, and achieving excellence both on and off the field. Currently, we run 4 men\’s teams.
Our Men\’s 1st XI competes in the South East Men\’s Invicta 1st Division league, aiming to consolidate their position and plan for future development and promotion. The Men\’s 2s play in the 4th Division, and after a strong season with a new, young squad, they are aiming for promotion next season.
There will also be support from a committed committee and a strong club infrastructure.
Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Coach, ideally someone who will also play for the club. The candidate should have a passion for hockey, a strong understanding of coaching at this level or higher, and the ability to inspire and motivate players.
Training sessions for the Men\’s 1s & 2s are held on Tuesday evenings from 20:00 to 21:30, starting August 2025 for pre-season training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organise, and conduct effective training programs for the performance squad.
- Attend 1st XI matches.
- Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
- Provide constructive feedback to enhance player skills and performance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Monitor and evaluate player progress and development.
- Collaborate with other Coaches & Captains for a cohesive coaching and playing approach.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience at a similar level.
- Relevant coaching certifications (e.g., Level 2 or equivalent, safeguarding, first aid).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with players of all ages and abilities.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Support fair and effective squad selection in collaboration with 1st and 2nd team captains.
Compensation:
Competitive pay, depending on experience, with potential for increases based on performance in future seasons.
