Sport England is looking for an experienced Project Management Office (PMO) leader to establish a new PMO function, setting the strategic direction for project management across the organisation to ensure that Sport England approaches and manages projects with a robust but proportionate governance framework.
The PMO is a new function for Sport England and as such requires extensive stakeholder management across all layers of the organisation to achieve credibility and buy-in. In this role you will need to apply judgement on what is proportionate and how to sequence the setup of the PMO to support Sport England in delivering its objectives. You will provide expert guidance, support and insight on projects, acting as the source of all project information and metrics.
You will have significant senior-level experience leading a PMO or portfolio management function and delivering complex projects or programmes in a public sector, arm's-length body or similarly regulated environment.
At Sport England, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity – regardless of age, gender, background, bank balance or postcode. We are an arm’s length body responsible for growing and developing grassroots sport and helping more people get active across England – around two thirds of our funding comes from players of The National Lottery, with the remainder coming from the Exchequer.
Our work is driven by Uniting the Movement, a 10-year strategy focused on tackling inequalities and creating positive experiences of sport and physical activity for all. From funding local community initiatives to influencing national policy, we work in partnership with organisations and individuals who share our vision of an active nation where everyone feels able to take part and be active in a way that works for them.
