  • Execute cell-based assays using primary cells and established cell lines within ECM-based models
  • Support optimisation and validation of tissue-based drug screening assays
  • Perform immunofluorescence staining and prepare samples for high-content imaging and image analysis
  • Generate, record and analyse experimental data, maintaining accurate laboratory records
  • Assist with assay troubleshooting and implementation of process improvements
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver experimental data to agreed timelines
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and contribute to good laboratory practice and health and safety compliance

Your profile Qualifications and Competencies BSc or MSc in Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related life sciences discipline 1–3 years of laboratory experience in academia, biotechnology or pharmaceutical research (industrial placement experience will also be considered) Ability to plan and execute experiments with appropriate supervision Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Strong written and verbal communication skills A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary team Ability to maintain accurate experimental records and work to high scientific standards

Key Experience
  • Essential
  • Practical laboratory experience handling human tissue samples
  • Experience with standard histology techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining
  • Experience performing mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays
  • Experience with immunofluorescence microscopy or high-content imaging
  • Strong laboratory organisation and documentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to generate reproducible experimental data
  • Desirable
  • Experience working with precision-cut tissue slices or other ex vivo tissue models
  • Knowledge of extracellular matrix (ECM) biology, fibrosis or tissue remodelling
  • Familiarity with high throughput imaging and analysis software
  • Experience working with primary human cells, particularly fibroblasts or immune cells
