The Northern region is a hub for members across all sectors of engineering and who are based in counties Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone. It has strong links with third-level institutions, North East region, The Institution of Civil Engineers Northern Ireland branch, the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The region provides CPD and social networking events for engineers of all grades and disciplines.

Some of the events previously held by the Northern region include:

  • Technical presentations covering topics such as the Newry to Armagh railway, natural flood management and diversity
  • The Annual Sir Bernard Crossland lecture
  • Social events like the Annual Dinner and student quiz night
