Our Playback Operations Systems Group seeks a passionate, results-oriented, and operationally focused System Development Engineer. You will support our device automation systems that underpin live events and 24/7 linear operations, analyzing and resolving issues to enhance customer experience. The role requires quick learning and handling multiple overlapping tasks.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement systems supporting Prime Video\’s Live OTT delivery
- Develop tooling and automation to scale Prime Video Live Operations
- Enhance monitoring capabilities and system reliability
- Develop operational metrics and maintain SLAs
- Provide escalation support for trouble tickets
- Collaborate with other teams to integrate into the Live Ops environment
A day in the life
Morning: Check-in on system health and alerts, diagnose issues.
Mid-Morning: Develop and test automation scripts to improve workflows.
Lunchtime: Share knowledge and discuss monitoring solutions.
Afternoon: Troubleshoot issues during live events, collaborate on scaling initiatives.
Evening: Review tickets, update documentation, prepare for on-call responsibilities.
Tomorrow involves new challenges, live event support, and ongoing innovation in streaming technology.

The Playback Ops Systems Group maintains reliable, high-performance monitoring tools and infrastructure, ensuring a seamless live streaming experience from devices to data analysis. We value ownership, customer satisfaction, and long-term thinking.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust)
- Experience with Linux/Unix systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience working with internal customers to resolve issues
