TERMS: Full-time. Flexibility is required to support filming schedules, including some early starts, late finishes, weekends and short-notice schedule changes.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £55,993 - £57,993 + London Weighting, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join the multi award-winning EastEnders team as Supervising Turnaround Chargehand and play a pivotal role in the delivery of one of the UK's most iconic dramas. Working closely with the Props & Settings Manager, you will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of turnaround activity across multiple filming blocks, studios and locations, ensuring sets, props and dressing are prepared safely, accurately and on schedule. Collaborating with Art, Props, Set Dressing, Assistant Directors and Production teams, you'll anticipate challenges, maintain continuity and help keep production moving efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

• SET AND PROP TURNAROUND
  • Lead the turnaround, reset and preparation of sets, props, dressing, special projects and large locations, ensuring filming readiness, continuity and production standards across multiple filming blocks.
  • Manage the EFS Prop Store and run the 1st Floor scenery and prop storage facility, overseeing the safe storage, movement, protection and return of props, dressing, furniture and equipment while proactively identifying continuity, condition and capacity risks.
  • Lead and coordinate turnaround activity with the Props & Settings Manager, Quartet Chargehands, Designers and Art Directors, monitoring schedules and production changes, supporting planning meetings and recces, and ensuring sets are dressed to creative and continuity requirements.
  • Act as a key operational link across departments, maintaining clear communication and handovers between teams, units and locations while proactively resolving issues and supporting safe, efficient and collaborative working practices.
• CONTINUITY AND PRODUCTION ACCURACY
  • Maintain accurate records of set layouts, dressing changes, turnaround requirements and storage locations, working closely with the Design Department, CAD Archivist and Props & Settings Manager.
  • Monitor continuity requirements, ensuring props, consumables and replacement items are available, escalating issues where required and communicating approved changes to relevant departments and crew.
• HEALTH, SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE
  • Lead safe turnaround operations in line with production health and safety procedures, risk assessments and departmental guidance, ensuring workspaces, access routes and equipment are maintained to the highest safety standards.
  • Promote responsible working practices through the safe handling, storage, reuse and disposal of materials and specialist props, reporting hazards and issues promptly and ensuring appropriate manual-handling procedures are followed.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Experience working on a continuing drama, soap opera or other high-volume television production, with responsibility for sets, props, set dressing or production turnaround activities.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating the work of multiple departments within a fast-paced, time-critical production environment.
• Experience working with filming schedules, continuity requirements, scene changes and production workflows to support filming readiness and delivery.
• Experience maintaining safe working practices when handling props, dressing, furniture, equipment and production materials.
• Evidence of prioritising workloads, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating effectively with production, creative and technical teams.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED

• Experience working across studio, location or multi-camera productions.
• Experience using production planning, continuity or asset management tools and documentation.
• Knowledge of BBC production processes or comparable broadcast environments.
• Relevant health and safety, manual handling or production-related training.
