We have a fantastic opportunity for a Solicitor to join our Medical Negligence team in Birmingham.

As the leading clinical and medical negligence law firm in the UK, we know how to make a positive difference to our clients' lives. Our experienced medical negligence solicitors take the time to understand what clients are going through, helping them get the answers and compensation they deserve. Our clinical negligence team has extensive experience in clinical negligence claims arising from obstetric, neonatal, anaesthetic, neurosurgical, cardiac and psychiatric care. Our solicitors have years of experience making a variety of medical negligence cases including but not limited to:

  • Accident & Emergency claims
  • Cancer claims
  • Cerebral Palsy claims
  • GP negligence claims

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing:

You will provide quality legal advice to the firm's clients by appropriate supervision and training and managing your very own caseload from the offset. Your aim will be to obtain interim payments wherever possible, so that we can put rehabilitation, a care package and suitable accommodation in place before the claim is concluded. As a team, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our clients. You'll join the Birmingham Team, working alongside Partner and Regional Head of the Birmingham Medical Negligence Team, Luke Daniels and Partner Jenna Harris who have a wealth of experience in complex clinical negligence cases, both on behalf of adults and children. The team acts exclusively for clients in clinical negligence cases, helping people bring claims against NHS Trusts, private practitioners and general practitioners (GPs). The cases involve:

  • Stroke and profound brain damage
  • Spinal injuries
  • Birth Injury
  • Inquest work
  • Fatalities
  • Neonatal deaths
  • Delay in diagnosis of cancer
  • Cosmetic surgery negligence

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a leading team alongside leading lawyers in the region!

About You:

  • Ideally 1-4 years' experience in Medical Negligence work
  • Proven experience of handling your own cases, including your own litigated cases
  • A clear enthusiasm for this area of law and a commitment to securing the best outcomes for your clients whilst working under pressure
  • An ability to work with empathy and integrity
  • An open-minded and pioneering approach - always thinking how can we do things better

We're proud of our values, and we're looking for people who share them:

  • To be pioneering with an imaginative outlook
  • To be approachable and caring
  • To be tenacious in the pursuit of our objectives
  • To be efficient in the provision of our services
  • To work with a foundation of integrity

If this sounds like you, we'd love to receive your application.

Our Benefits - What We Can Offer You:

  • 25 days holidays as standard plus bank holidays - You can 'buy' up to 35hrs of extra holiday too.
  • Generous and flexible pension schemes.
  • Volunteering days - Two days of volunteering every year for a cause of your choice (fully paid)
  • Westfield Health membership, offering refunds on medical services alongside our Aviva Digital GP services.

We also offer a wide range of well-being initiatives to encourage positive mental health both in and out of the workplace and to make sure you're fully supported. This includes our Flexible by Choice programme which gives our colleagues more choice over a hybrid way of working subject to role, team and client requirements. We have been ranked in the Best Workplaces for Wellbeing for Large Organisations for 2024!

Our responsible business programmes are fundamental to who we are and our purpose. We're committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace where our colleagues can flourish, and we have established a number of inclusion network groups across our business to support this aim.
