The Telegraph is looking for a talented and enthusiastic SEO manager to join our dynamic Audience team. In this collaborative role, you will drive and refine key organic growth strategies for our Commerce team, directly impacting the performance of our affiliate-driven content. Reporting to the Head of Evergreen SEO, you will be instrumental in managing organic performance, collaborating closely with editors on best practices, identifying new opportunities, and providing insightful performance reports across some of our most valuable channels. You will be at the forefront of eCommerce and publisher trends, working closely alongside editorial and commercial teams to influence cross-business strategy.
A prime example of our evergreen commercial content can be found within Telegraph Recommended and its associated guides, a trusted resource for our audience's purchasing decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Execute evergreen content strategies for key commercial verticals, including planning, briefing, and content optimisation.
- Create and deliver comprehensive weekly and monthly reports and analyses, ensuring data is easily digestible for cross-business stakeholders.
- Work closely with journalists and editors, providing expert SEO advice, best practice guidance, training sessions, and content optimisations.
- Drive content performance through competitor audits, keyword gap analysis, identification of emerging trends and seasonal opportunities, and innovation in on-page formats aligned with new channel trends.
- Work to commercial & revenue-based KPIs, understanding the impact of decisions made at the top of the funnel.
- Inform event-planning, performing keyword research and working with the news SEO team to optimise performance for key commercial events such as Black Friday.
- Stay up to date on SEO developments, particularly in News and eCommerce, attending industry events and keeping ahead of the search engine ecosystem.
- Assist the Head of Evergreen SEO in identifying and assessing new search-led business opportunities.
- Manage and support the growth of junior SEO team members.
- Proven experience working in an affiliate-focused business.
- Current role with a strong focus on SEO.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Deep understanding of Google, Google Discover and SEO principles.
- Experience managing SEO content projects from initiation to completion.
- Analytical and data-driven approach to decision making.
- Ability to build strong relationships across the business and with senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using multiple industry-leading tools (GSC, Ahrefs, SemRush etc).
- Numerate and fluent in aggregating and analysing core campaign performance metrics.
- Experience in editorial or newsroom environments (desirable).
