Brief Description
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer for Kent Maintenance. As part of the Maintenance Service Delivery team (MSD), you will support the Kent Maintenance organisation in developing and delivering projects that protect our people in creating a safer working environment for our frontline track workers.
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities
- Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to deliver a cost effective, high quality and safe approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects.
- Monitor the competence of all Project Engineers working on projects within the functional discipline and provide guidance.
- Apply engineering controls and procedures to all projects to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Apply relevant techniques and procedures of risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects.
- Monitor all projects for compliance with standards and project control procedures.
- Advise project management regarding construction activities, testing, and site supervision.
- Monitor the competency of contractors and undertake reviews of design and construction activities.
- Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE) and undertake accident investigations as required.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Significant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi-discipline areas.
Technical qualifications to at least HNC level or equivalent.
Membership of a relevant professional institution.
Experience of contracting.
Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects.
Desirable
Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
Chartered status or equivalent in the particular discipline.
Appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
