An integral role to support NFU Mutual's commercial growth strategy into a wide range of new business sectors. This is a field-based role covering the Midlands and anything South of the Midlands.
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial underwriting professional to join NFU Mutual and be a technical lead for a competent and engaged team of Development Underwriters responsible for supporting the NFU Mutual Agency Network with the acquisition of mid-market commercial new business and gross direct premium income across a variety of classes of business and sectors. You'll support the team in managing the new business pipeline and caseload whilst working collaboratively with and challenging both Sales and NFU Mutual Agents on the delivery of prospects where appropriate. Homebased covering either the Midlands and South of the country, you will spend on average 2-3 days per week out on the road, and so it is important that you are comfortable with travel. This will include spending time with the team, visiting NFU Mutual Agents/clients and Sales teams as well as visits to Head Office and the Regional Service Centres.
About you
- We're looking for a commercial underwriting specialist with extensive market knowledge and proven experience in providing technical expertise.
- Have experience handling and resolving a broad range of complex commercial underwriting cases, demonstrating strong analytical skills and pragmatic, logical thinking.
- Possess excellent communication and influencing abilities to build and manage effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrate strong organisational and prioritisation skills to manage workloads efficiently while maintaining a high personal reputation for integrity and professionalism.
- Serve as a technical referral point with a proven track record of coaching and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Apply your in-depth New Business Commercial Underwriting experience to make informed decisions and deliver high-quality results.
