The project: Working for the UK's leading port network, we have an opportunity for a senior commercial manager to join the team at our Southampton site (Hybrid Work from home and site). You will be responsible for the management of commercial aspects of the business area including supporting pre-contract and operations, managing commercial risk and opportunity, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and that all commercial reporting procedures are adhered to.
Supporting the delivery of the port's projects providing pre-award, procurement and post-award contract administration support, monitoring compliance with contract obligations and driving value from the supply chain. Provision of a "cradle to grave" commercial function for all work packages making up the commission.

You’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
- Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
- Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
- Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
- Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
- Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
- Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
- Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
You’ll need to have:
- A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent along with previous experience in a cost/commercial consultancy practice in a similar role and experience working with highways projects/frameworks.
- You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.
- You will have a construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
