What you'll do

  • Lead and direct a highly effective and motivated team of Railway Enforcement Officers dedicated to the reduction of crime, anti-social behaviour, and fare evasion.
  • Work in close partnership with other departments and outside agencies to combat ticketless travel, low-level crime, disorder, anti-social behaviour, and related problems on Southeastern.
  • Supervise operations and taskings as directed by your Railway Enforcement Management Team.
  • Travel on trains and patrol stations to deal with anti-social behaviour, crime, and fare evasion.
  • Work with partners, station teams, train staff, the British Transport Police, and other services to resolve incidents and support vulnerable passengers.

Your training

When you join us, you'll be enrolled in our Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship, completing a mix of classroom-based and on-the-job learning, covering everything from functional skills to conflict management.

Your shifts

You will work a varied shift pattern, including weekends, bank holidays, and nights. Shifts can start as early as 6am or finish at 2am.

The experience you'll need

  • Good decision-making and calmness under pressure.
  • The skills to evaluate and interpret information and make appropriate decisions.
  • Previous experience within a Team Leader or Supervisor role.
  • The ability to actively monitor direct reports and conduct regular 1:1 reviews.
  • The ability to ensure staff performance complies with required standards.
  • Experience of developing and implementing coaching plans.
  • Experience of conducting interviews and investigations in line with HR procedure.

However, we can only consider you for the role if you:

  • Live within a 45-minute travel time to the location you're applying for.
  • Have been a UK resident for three years or more.
  • Complete an NPPV Level 2 Vetting undertaken by the British Transport Police.
