About the Team

The Oxford Street Transformational Programme Team is being established to deliver on the mayor's bold ambitions for Oxford Street. Oxford Street is an area of critical national economic importance, with an estimated contribution of £25bn in 2022. The area has suffered in recent years due to a combination of the pandemic, the growth of online shopping, and out-of-town shopping centres. The Mayor's proposals could include future plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street and transform it into an exciting, green, and thriving destination for Londoners and tourists alike.

About the Role

To support the development and implementation of the Mayor's proposals to transform Oxford Street into a world-leading destination, supporting the Senior Planning, Design and Delivery Manager. To assist in the delivery of public realm design and activation plans, promoting urban regeneration and economic growth in the Oxford Street area.

What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Support the Senior Planning, Design and Delivery Manager in delivering the programme.
  • Engage and manage relationships with stakeholders, including boroughs, to promote the programme.
  • Ensure equality, diversity, and inclusion are embedded in design quality across all commissioning processes.
  • Coordinate with TfL on highway design and manage procurement of consultants as necessary.
  • Support the development of activation plans for the Oxford Street area.
  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Promote equality of opportunities and the diverse needs of London's communities.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

To be considered for the role, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience or knowledge in one of the following areas: Regeneration, Urban Design, Economic Development, Town Planning, or related fields.
  • Experience of research and policy development.
  • Experience in project development and management.
  • Well-developed IT skills and experience with project management software.

We are looking for proactive, collaborative candidates comfortable working on a fast-paced programme.
