DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
People are the heart of everything that makes Channel 4 the unique and successful broadcaster that it is. The People Team makes sure we attract and retain the absolute best with the People Partnering team supporting the three core business areas of Creative, Commercial and Operations.
The People Partnering team is made up of Senior People Partners, People Partners and ER Lead who collaborate closely with the People Operations team and other specialist functions.
As a team, we deliver on the people strategy that underpins the Channel 4 Fast Forward strategy. The People Partnering team support and coach the business to improve and evolve, ensuring that the life cycle of each employee is positive and culturally supportive where people can do their best work, be continually developed and feel engaged as they deliver on Channel 4\’s remit.
JOB PURPOSE
The People Resolutions Partner plays a critical role in supporting Channel 4\’s People Partnering team and the Organisation by providing expert guidance on employee relations matters. This role is accountable for managing a diverse range of ER cases, ensuring timely and compliant resolutions.
This role is responsible for ensuring that people disputes and grievances are effectively addressed whilst being responsible for promoting a positive work environment and ensuring compliance with employment law and company policies.
The Partner will develop and implement the Channel\’s ER strategy, policies, and training initiatives that align with best practices and the company culture. Working closely with the ER Lead, People Partners, and Leaders, they will help identify trends, advise on proactive solutions, and drive continuous improvements in the ER function.
You will need to have experience of working in a pure employee relations role with a depth of knowledge and credibility in delivering employee relations activity. You will need to enjoy collaborating with colleagues, building professional relationships at all levels including working with external lawyers and working to support the Channel as it evolves in line with its wider strategy and its remit.
This is a key role for a motivated, experienced, professional, commercial, and initiative-taking ER Partner wishing to gain new strategic exposure and experience in a unique and exciting organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as a neutral party in resolving workplace conflicts, ensuring fair treatment of people, and fostering positive relationships between people and Leaders.
  • Works with the People Partnering team to deliver the ER strategy/ ways of working.
  • Oversee and manage with a case management approach, ER cases, ensuring timely progress and resolution ensuring risk is minimised.
  • Deliver training for managers on ER topics such as conflict resolution, performance improvement & relevant employment law.
  • Analyse employee relations trends and metrics to develop proactive solutions.
  • Advise on and develop ER-related policies and procedures, aligning with best practices and Channel 4 culture.
  • Collaborate with specialist areas to address organisational issues impacting ER, providing strategic insights to the People Leadership team.
  • Respond to ER queries, offering expert advice and ensuring compliance with policies and SLAs.
  • Provide day-to-day administration for ER cases, including case logging and grievance tracking via a case management system.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, offering support and guidance on ER matters.
  • Identify ER trends using data and provide recommendations to drive continuous service improvement.
  • Support People Partners with the management of complex, high-risk ER cases, ensuring resolution and compliance.
  • Support People Partners with Organisation Design projects as required by the business.
  • Consulting with external legal advisors on Employment Tribunal cases and manage risk effectively.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc ER projects, ensuring alignment with business needs and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Proven experience in managing employee relations cases, including grievance, disciplinary, and performance management.
  • Broad knowledge of UK employment law and current HR good practice in employee relations.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering training on ER topics, such as conflict resolution and performance improvement.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple ER cases simultaneously while maintaining exacting standards of accuracy.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring all documentation and communications are clear, accurate, and legally compliant.
  • Persuasive communication skills, with the ability to advise, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience in analysing ER trends and data to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work efficiently in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to coach managers, ensuring they understand and apply ER policies and processes consistently.
  • Mediation & Investigation experience.
