We are looking for a Media Manager to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract. You will work in Wellcome Collection's Communications & Marketing team, reporting to the Communications Lead. This team is part of Wellcome's Corporate Affairs department, alongside colleagues delivering Communications and Engagement.

What will I be doing? You will oversee media campaigns promoting our activities, building our brand and reputation, and managing risk. We are looking for someone who can:

  • Deliver PR campaigns for Wellcome Collection.
  • Manage breaking and reactive news stories involving Wellcome Collection or related to strategic or reputational interests.
  • Protect and enhance Wellcome Collection and Wellcome's reputation; communicate our narrative to national and international media.
  • Embed Wellcome's commitments to equity and inclusion in campaign development and delivery.

We're looking for someone with proven experience in / with:

  • Media relations in-house, at an agency, or as a journalist handling sensitive and high-profile issues.
  • Excellent contacts in media and cultural sectors, with a good understanding of both.
  • Strong written, editing, and oral communication skills, including writing and pitching articles in national and international media.
  • Proactive and reactive media relations skills, media campaign strategy, crisis management, and budget management.
  • Ability to advise on strategic and reputational issues.
  • Experience supporting Wellcome's journey to becoming an anti-racist, anti-ableist organization, promoting Inclusive Communications Principles.
