The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Employment Tax Manager to join our dynamic team and lead our efforts in managing employment taxes. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about ensuring legal and financial compliance.
You’ll provide expert advice on employment tax matters across the business, partnering with teams including Payroll, Reward, Finance, People, and Talent Acquisition. You’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance, managing risk, driving process improvements, and supporting strategic business initiatives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Acting as the subject matter expert for UK employment tax, providing advice on benefits, expenses, global mobility, IR35, employment status, equity schemes, and remote working.
- Supporting the development and implementation of employment tax policies, controls, and governance frameworks.
- Managing relationships with HMRC and leading responses to employment tax enquiries and compliance matters.
- Overseeing employment tax reporting and compliance obligations, including PAYE Settlement Agreements and statutory filings.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance compliance through automation and technology.
- Delivering employment tax training and guidance to key stakeholder groups across the organisation.
- Supporting strategic projects, acquisitions, and business initiatives by providing employment tax expertise and due diligence support.
- Monitoring legislative developments and ensuring the business remains compliant with changing employment tax regulations.
What You'll Bring
- Qualification relating to tax - Chartered Institute of Taxation, Tax Technicians or similar accounting qualification.
- Experience of managing employment tax matters and associated risks in a large corporate environment.
- Ability to review processes, make recommendations and implement change within the context of all employment tax areas including expense, benefits, payroll, reward, IR35 and contingent workforce.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective, credible relationships, challenge, and work with integrity at all levels within the organisation to influence decisions.
- First-class communication skills with the gravitas to challenge, partner, and influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Significant experience of managing employment tax matters and associated risks in a large corporate environment with global exposure.
- Able to manage expectations/conflicting requirements and priorities of multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, work to deadlines and prioritise in a busy environment.
- Collaborative team player who can also operate independently.
