Your Role and What You’ll Be Doing
We’re looking for a Data Quality Analyst to join our Data & Analytics function, working within the Data & Records Governance team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is detail driven, collaborative and keen to develop their career in data quality within a complex, regulated environment. As a Data Quality Analyst, you’ll play a key role in improving the accuracy, integrity and reliability of our data. Working closely with Data Owners, Data Champions and wider business stakeholders, you’ll help identify data quality issues, recommend and implement solutions, and support a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll be involved in both day to day data quality activity and longer term change initiatives, ensuring data quality requirements are embedded from the start of projects and that future issues are prevented wherever possible. Your work will directly support strategic decision-making and help Irwin Mitchell unlock greater value from its data.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse data sets to identify, track and resolve data quality issues raised by the business.
- Support and maintain the data quality issues log, working with stakeholders to agree remediation actions.
- Carry out data validation, verification and cleansing activities.
- Work with the Senior Data Quality Analyst, Data Owners and Data Champions to investigate and resolve data discrepancies.
- Proactively assess data quality and recommend improvements to data capture and processes.
- Monitor and report on key data quality metrics and indicators.
- Contribute to the development of the Data Glossary, data quality rules and data lineage documentation.
- Provide guidance, training and support to colleagues on data quality best practice.
- Support data governance and compliance activities, including understanding relevant regulatory requirements.
- Engage with change and transformation projects to ensure data quality is considered from the outset.
About You
You’ll be someone who enjoys working with data, spotting patterns and issues, and collaborating with others to put things right. You’ll be comfortable working in a changing environment and able to balance attention to detail with the bigger picture.
Essential experience and skills
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a data-focused role.
- Experience producing data quality reporting and driving issue resolution.
- Ability to understand and write SQL (or equivalent) to support data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Evidence of reviewing, improving and adapting processes.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to learn and keep up to date with data quality best practice.
Desirable
- Hands-on experience using data quality tools such as Microsoft Purview, Great Expectations or similar.
- Experience working in the legal sector or another regulated environment.
- Experience working in a medium to large, multi-disciplinary organisation.
