Lead Graphic Designer/Europe, Operations Internal Communications
DESCRIPTION
Do you enjoy creating beautiful design work that will be seen by Amazon employees across Europe and even the world? Amazon is seeking a talented and experienced Art Director to join the Creative Services Team supporting Operations Internal Communications (OIC) for Europe. The right candidate will join our team of UK-based communications experts to create engaging, on-brand content that effectively informs and inspires our 200,000+ European employees who fulfill orders and deliver smiles for Amazon customers every day. While the Lead Graphic Designer will focus their work on the European audience, they will also have the opportunity to regularly Think Big and create visual assets and systems that are used in global campaigns.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic person who can manage multiple projects, some on tight deadlines, and communicate professionally with stakeholders. They must have a strong individual sense of aesthetics and be able to bring elevated ideas to the table. In addition, they should have the ability to work with outside agencies to oversee compelling designs and to drive our partners to maintain our high design bar. This position requires intrinsic design acumen, typographic skills, print and digital expertise, and acute attention to detail. Not only do you have the technical skills and a portfolio to back it up, you are a conceptual thinker who can bring fresh ideas to the team.
While the person in this role is a designer and an artist to be sure, above all, they are a visual communicator. We don’t create art for its own sake, we design in service of informing and educating our front-line employees. From physical posters in fulfillment centers to digital designs viewed on mobile phones, everything you create will communicate meaning to our audience.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate’s qualifications are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field
- Few years of professional graphic design experience, with a strong focus on branding and design systems; agency experience is a plus
- Exceptional portfolio showcasing branding projects and design systems, demonstrating the ability to create design guidelines and a strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, and color theory.
- Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to translate business requirements into creative, on-brand design solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and strategies to stakeholders
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the visual design process from concept to completion for communication campaigns, branding initiatives, product launches, and more
- Design eye-catching graphics, layouts, illustrations, iconography, and other visual elements that elevate the Amazon brand
- Work collaboratively with the internal communications team to understand messaging needs and translate them into compelling, visually-driven content.
- Provide art direction and oversee the work of freelance designers and external agencies/vendors
- Communicate with stakeholders and vendors to fully grasp design needs and deliverables.
- Manage a wide array of concurrent design projects.
- Stay up-to-date on design trends and technologies to continuously improve the visual impact and effectiveness of internal communications.
- Partner cross-functionally with regional operations, HR, and other stakeholders to understand business priorities and tailor content accordingly.
- Champion the company’s brand identity and ensure all creative work adheres to brand standards.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in design
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite applications, with high proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat using macOS
- Knowledge of branding guidelines and corporate identity, visual design, print and digital layout design
- Experience working in a collaborative team, publicly white-boarding, and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with motion design and video editing is a bonus
