About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for rotating shifts warehouse operatives to join Booker on a permanent contract with 16 week probationary period. Successful applicants will be required to work 40 hours per week, with overtime opportunities in line with the Working Time Directive. You will receive in-house training and support to equip you with the skills necessary to conduct your role. You will receive the current hourly basic rate of pay, plus shift premium, which is calculated on the basic hours that are worked between the following bands:
- 18.00 – 23.59: 15%
- 00.00 – 05.59: 25%
- Saturday and Sunday: 20%
Hours worked between 06.00 and 17.59 are classed as day shift and attract no premium. Shift premium is not paid on any overtime hours. We also offer enhanced bank holiday pay on all Bank holidays worked through the year.
Site Incentive Scheme
Our colleagues also participate in the site incentive scheme which is related to an individual's performance.
4‑week rotating shift pattern available:
- Week 1: Monday to Friday 14.00pm – 22.00pm
- Week 2: Monday to Friday 06.00am – 14.00pm
- Week 3: Sunday to Thursday 14.00pm – 22.00pm
- Week 4: Sunday to Thursday 06.00am – 14.00pm
Weekend Working pattern available Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday. 38 hour and 40 hour patterns available.
Responsibilities
- Receive, pick and load goods correctly in accordance with safe standards of work instructions.
- Operate all manual and mechanical handling equipment correctly and safely to avoid damage to goods, property or people.
- Perform daily pre‑equipment checks before use, reporting any faults immediately to a manager.
- Report dangerous stacking, racking damage, obstructions and any other danger or irregularities immediately to a manager.
- Assist in the counting of stock as required.
- Assist in the issue of any paperwork, documentation as required.
- Take re‑coup of damaged stock as requested by manager.
- Undergo any training when required by the Company.
- Perform any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business.
Qualifications
- Numeracy and literacy.
- Experience within warehouse chambers preferred, but not essential.
- Experience operating high reach or forklift trucks is preferred, but not essential.
- All suitable candidates will be offered training after probationary period.
- Handle goods carefully and comply with safety regulations.
- Ensure goods are not damaged through mis‑handling or faulty storing or stacking.
- Flexible and versatile.
- Able to produce quality standard of work.
Prior to employment, you must successfully complete a drug and alcohol test.
