The UK+EU Publishing Ads Business Development Manager will lead and help define our Books Advertising strategy with Books Advertisers in the UK and Europe. You will collaborate closely with Books Retail teams in a strategic role focused on scaling advertising solutions for book publishers and indie authors across UK/European locales.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Publisher Relations: The Ads BDM will serve as the primary team leader and escalation point for publishers. They will support GGS Account Executives covering EU Books Accounts on retail, ads policy, and product challenges, and bridge communication between EU and US teams for seamless collaboration.
  • Goals and Tracking mechanisms: Define and track vendor-level goals, create input goals across the onboarding funnel, and monitor GMS penetration and Ads revenue, ensuring progress toward country-level OP2 targets in EU+UK. Establish WBR/QBR processes with internal teams.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Educate EU/UK VMs/AVS teams on ad products, promote adoption of programs like the Advertiser Accelerator Program, and develop training materials including pitch decks, strategies, and legal guidelines.
  • Agents and Authors Strategy and US Best Practices: Launch education workstreams for EU Literary Agents and KDP Authors, adapting successful US programs for Europe.
  • Ads Products Parity: Provide feedback on parity gaps between US and EU ad products, collaborate with tech teams to define development roadmaps, and model opportunity sizes.

A day in the life: Facilitate coordination between Ad Sales, Books Retail, and Ad Product teams, create tracking mechanisms, contribute to strategic planning, support sales efforts, and remove blockers to ad revenue.

About the team: The GGS Publishing Ads Sales team supports diverse advertisers, from global publishers to indie authors, focusing exclusively on Books Advertisers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a professional or military field
  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience with CRM tools like Salesforce
  • Experience in business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business
  • Experience in developing and executing business agreements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross-geography teams
  • Working with technical/product teams to define requirements and influence roadmaps
  • Experience selling Digital Advertising and Marketing solutions
