We have a newly created opportunity for a Environment, Safety and Sustainability (ESS) Adviser to join our Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) team at RBL on a 12-month contract basis. Working across all areas of the organisation, this role will be an integral part of the SHEQ team, responsible for supporting the implementation and compliance of the environmental management system, health and safety compliance, and sustainability initiatives across the RBL Group and partner charities. Promoting a positive environmental and safety culture, you will collaborate with colleagues to ensure an environmentally aware workplace that complies with legislative requirements and aims to reduce our environmental impact. You will also ensure a safe working environment with proper procedures. Reporting to the Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, key responsibilities include: Providing a central focus for all RBL environmental matters to embed good practices and improve performance. Supporting teams to deliver improvements in environmental impact in line with legal requirements and strategic goals. Collaborating with SHE Advisers and subject matter experts to identify, assess, and control environmental and health and safety risks arising from policies, strategies, operations, and supply chains to ensure compliance. Providing advice, guidance, and training to RBL employees and volunteers on environmental, safety, and sustainability topics. Assisting in developing and delivering reports to the Executive Board and annual statements for publication. This role is for a 12-month fixed-term period, starting immediately or on short notice. Internal applicants should discuss their application with their line manager and obtain approval. You will hold current Environmental and Health and Safety qualifications, possess a full driving license, and ideally be a member of IEMA and/or IOSH. Demonstrable experience in multi-site operational environmental and H&S roles, along with good knowledge of statutory environmental requirements, regulations, standards, and codes of practice, is required. The role is primarily remote, based at your home address, with occasional travel to RBL sites including care homes.
