We are the Text-to-Speech Research team, dedicated to enhancing core technology for Alexa's voice to make it more human-like and expressive. We seek a passionate, talented, and inventive Scientist with a strong background in Machine/Deep Learning to join us in Cambridge, UK. Our mission is to advance computer-generated speech to provide the best experience for our customers.
As an applied scientist, you will collaborate with talented peers to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to push the state-of-the-art in spoken language generation. Your work will directly impact our customers through products and services utilizing speech and language technology. You will leverage Amazon's diverse data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate progress in computer-generated speech.
Position Responsibilities:
- Research and implement novel Machine/Deep Learning approaches that add value to Amazon.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers and scientists.
- Participate in designing, developing, evaluating, deploying, and updating data-driven models and analytical solutions for spoken language applications.
- Develop and apply statistical modeling methods (e.g., deep neural networks), optimizations, and other ML techniques for various spoken language engineering applications.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD, or a Master's degree with experience in CS, CE, ML, or related fields.
- Experience with patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related.
- Experience in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
- Experience building machine learning models for business applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using Unix/Linux.
- Experience in professional software development.
