We are looking for a Costs Draftsman/Lawyer to join our Court of Protection costs team in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, ambitious individual to join a growing national team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing Bills of Costs for assessment
  • Interacting with clients to provide advice and take instructions
  • Possibly undertaking wider costs drafting work across the business
  • Providing technical support to fee earners
  • Involvement in training junior members of the team

About You:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience, either in-house or with an external supplier of costs drafting services
  • Basic knowledge of legal procedures
  • Proven experience with IT systems and time recording procedures
  • Ability to manage caseloads and competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and a seamless service
  • Flexible approach enabling you to respond to rapid changes in priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and professional telephone manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders across the business
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Financial or legal qualifications such as ACL qualification, ILEX Part 1 Year 1
  • Experience in one or more legal departments, preferably with Court of Protection (COP) experience
