Salary : £51,000-£67,250 per annum dependent on relevant skills and experience

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. To apply for this role you should identify as deaf, disabled or neurodivergent and must meet either: the definition of disability in the Equality Act (2010), or the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) if applying in Northern Ireland. Job Purpose

You’ll be part of the Stories and Specialists team, working within the Millbank newsroom with a small BBC Wales team consisting of two Correspondents and a Senior Journalist. You’ll report to the Assistant Editor, Politics and the Editor, Stories and Specialists. The team delivers on-the-day and in-depth news coverage of Wales and Westminster across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

You’ll be expected to break stories and be the authoritative voice for Westminster politics for BBC Wales’ output. You’ll develop excellent contacts with Wales’ MPs and the rest of the political world, and be able to lead and advise the rest of the news team on editorial questions.

You’ll be a great writer and superb broadcaster, comfortable on breakfast radio and evening television as well as providing Reels for social channels and copy and analysis for online services.

The role is based at Westminster but there will be requirements to travel to other parts of the UK in line with editorial requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

You’ll have excellent editorial awareness and judgement in line with the BBC’s values and editorial guidelines. You’ll have extensive experience of delivering high quality journalism, and a thorough knowledge of UK and Welsh politics.

You’ll know our audiences and our different programmes and their plans for future growth, and you’ll be flexible and adaptive to the range of styles and techniques needed to improve the reach of our journalism.

You’ll be resilient and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines, and a team player able to build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
