This is a varied commercial role suitable for candidates with experience in business administration, ideally also with some supplier management experience. This dynamic role fulfills a range of operational commercial tasks including providing critical support and coordination to the wider team, as well as undertaking operational procurement activities such as obtaining quotations from suppliers, awarding lower-value contracts, contract monitoring and management, spend monitoring, and financial approvals. The role reports into one of NS&Iās Commercial Managers and the appointed person will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders in both business-as-usual roles and across the business transformation programme.
The Commercial Support Officer will provide administrative support for a range of procurement and commercial supplier management processes.
The role is varied and will enable NS&I to meet its commercial and procurement objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-ordinating and supporting a range of commercial, procurement, and co-ordination tasks in a timely manner to a high standard;
- Supporting operational tendering procedures, including supplier selection and evaluation, and taking the lead on lower-value supplier selection and award processes;
- Monitoring contract expiry and extension arrangements and contributing to commercial pipeline planning;
- Monitoring and analysing supplier spend and acting as an approver for lower-value expenditure in the Finance system;
- Monitoring supplier financial health and compliance with various legal requirements including Data Protection and GDPR, and Modern Slavery reporting;
- Producing and maintaining accurate records for the commercial team; producing Management Information (MI) around commercial activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience of working in an administrative or similar office support role.
- Experience of communicating with stakeholders at all levels; able to engage with others in the team and wider organisation.
- Experience of delivering quality work within set timescales in a fast-paced environment.
- At least 3 A-Levels at C grade or better; one of which must be English, (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications);
- A level 4 (or higher) qualification in Business Management, or similar level 4 (or higher) qualification in a related subject, or CIPS Level 3 Diploma in Purchasing and Supply
- Organised, can efficiently prioritise competing tasks and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate level ability in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Good communication skills – written and spoken – can present information in a clear, concise way. Ability to take ownership by working independently, collaborating, and sharing knowledge and ideas.
