The predicted salary is between 44000 - 58000 £ per year.

Salary: Between £51,980 and £67,143 (dependant on experience), plus excellent benefits

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri 09:00 - 17:30

Location: The Hangar, London Heathrow

In a nutshell

The Cabin Interiors Design & Development Engineer is responsible for the provision of design, technical, compliance and expertise in support of the airlines Cabin Interior requirements. You'll be responsible for specification and implementation of cabin development, maintenance, assessment, and processing of modification initiatives. You will also be responsible for investigation of fleet wide defects and reliability issues together with the formulation of corrective actions to drive performance, maintain safety, compliance, reliability, and product delivery in a timely manner at optimum cost.

Day to day

  • Identification of aircraft cabin change requirements in conjunction with cabin stakeholders.
  • Cost effective technical management of Cabin Interior related items to ensure all safety, airworthiness and compliance requirements meet Regulatory Authority standards.
  • Innovative design and development of solutions to deliver airline safety, compliance, performance, reliability, and standard expected from the Virgin Atlantic product.
  • Technical and commercial assessment of Cabin Interior modifications.
  • Operational support within the scope of our in-house Part 21 Design Organisation Approval, with development opportunities to progress through compiler, TVE and CVE signatories within the Design Organisation.
  • Clear communication with cabin stakeholders, managing a large number of varying priorities under pressure.
  • Build strong and effective relationships with VAA engineering and non-engineering personnel, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ownership of Cabin Interior vendor relationships, with regards to managing fleetwide in-service issues and contractual performance metrics.
  • Development of business cases to deliver value adding initiatives.
  • Working to challenging deadlines with a high-volume workload.
  • Continuous improvement challenges to all business processes and procedures that support the management of the Cabin Development team including procedural documentation as required.

About you

We’re seeking a skilled Cabin Interiors Design & Development Engineer, with an aviation background. Somebody who is innovative and places safety as their top priority. If this sounds like you and you have the below skills/experience, we think you would love this role!

  • An engineering degree/HND in a discipline relevant to aviation, engineering, or an EASA/CAA B1/B2 Licence (or equivalent).
  • Experience in working within an airline and/or cabin interior supplier/vendor engineering department highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in working within TRAX eMRO engineering system highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of CAA, EASA and other National Airworthiness Authority Regulations and experience of Part 21 and/or Part M/CAMO.
  • Must be flexible and can adapt and respond to changing work demands under pressure while effectively managing conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to operate at the highest level under operational pressure making clear unambiguous decisions within our Part 21 Design Organisation.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work well on their own initiative and demonstrate strong cross-functional working relationships.
  • Ability to interpret differing business messages to make informed decisions when dealing with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
  • Customer orientated, able to distinguish between a functioning product and a product meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong team working, conflict resolution and influencing skills.
