Salary: Up to £44,100 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type : 6 month Fixed Term Contract / Attachment

Location: Office Base is London, White City. Site working is required.

Please note: This role requires shift working including nights and weekends operating 24/7, 365 days per year. Night payment is applied.

Job Introduction

Join the team that keeps the BBC on air, around the clock and around the world.

The Centralised Coding & Multiplexing (CCM) team encodes and distributes BBC content across platforms, ensuring services are always available.

We are expanding to include 3rd line support for the BBC\’s Arista network.

Main Responsibilities

The role involves shift work providing 24-hour support, incident management, and stakeholder communication for BBC platforms and services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and supporting BBC applications in on-premise environments.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues using monitoring tools.
  • Managing incidents from report to resolution, including major incidents, meeting SLAs.
  • Logging and documenting incidents per ITIL practices.
  • Communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, especially during high-impact events.
  • Ensuring effective shift handovers.
  • Contributing to process improvements and operational tooling.

Candidate Profile

We seek someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment, passionate about service reliability, and collaborative in approach. You should enjoy troubleshooting networks and presenting solutions.

Experience required:

  • Experience in 1st and 2nd line operations.
  • Knowledge of DVB broadcasting and IP networking.
  • Familiarity with CDNs, VMware, and on-prem infrastructure.
  • Experience with diagnostic and monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of incident prioritisation and ITIL.
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder influence.
  • Experience with cloud platforms.
  • Command-line Linux experience (desirable).
