You’ll join Irwin Mitchell’s Restructuring & Insolvency team, based in Birmingham, working closely with Partner Katie Molloy as part of one of the largest national restructuring and insolvency teams among UK full-service firms. The team advises a wide range of clients, including insolvency practitioners, directors, lenders and corporates, on both contentious and non-contentious matters arising from financial distress. • Advising insolvency practitioners, companies and directors on corporate insolvency matters, including administrations, liquidations, CVAs and restructuring.
  • Supporting senior lawyers and partners in relation to insolvency litigation and office‑holder claims such as wrongful trading, misfeasance, breach of duty, and transaction avoidance claims (such as preferences and transactions at an undervalue).
  • Director and shareholder disputes arising from distressed situations.
  • Cross‑border insolvency and related disputes.
  • Advising on restructuring solutions and risk mitigation strategies for distressed businesses.
  • Assisting with transactional and corporate support elements of insolvency matters, including sales out of administration.

  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 1 year PQE.
  • Experience in restructuring and insolvency matters gained either post‑qualification or during training.
  • A clear interest in both contentious and non‑contentious insolvency work.
  • Confidence working with clients and delivering clear, pragmatic advice.
  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with appropriate supervision.
