At GSK's Barnard Castle site, we are looking to recruit an Engineering Technician to join our team. Engineering Technicians provide comprehensive and professional engineering support service for the Steriles Business Unit (SBU) to meet business and regulatory needs. They are responsible for engineering activities associated with the production process (operating across Inspect, Assembly, and Packaging operations) for syringes and vials.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Support day-to-day breakdown repairs of production and plant equipment. Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and breakdown maintenance activities. Perform calibration of equipment instrumentation. Lead equipment upgrades and manage equipment obsolescence through continuous improvement initiatives.
- GMP, Quality & Safety: Prepare, complete, and take ownership of GMP safety and quality documentation. Maintain compliance with role, departmental, and site procedures, processes, and systems. Supervise internal and external contractors, ensuring GMP standards are upheld and contract company details are reviewed for accuracy. Positively engage with stakeholders to ensure relevant contract details remain accurate.
- Engineering Change & Project Support: Complete tasks within Engineering Change Controls. Support localised area projects, including new product introduction activities.
- SAP / MERPS & Data Management: Accountable for the delivery of SAP/MERPS activities including Work Orders, Notifications, Data Maintenance, and ordering of plant spares. Deliver data cleansing activities to ensure optimum data maintenance standards. Manage data creations and changes to SAP vendor data.
- Continuous Improvement & Performance: Drive Continuous Improvement to increase performance in line with EHS and Quality improvement objectives and KPIs, utilising GPS tools. Self-manage training compliance metrics to ensure ongoing personal and regulatory compliance.
Shift
This role operates on a 24/5 shift rota: Earliest (6:00 to 14:00), Lates (14:00 to 22:00), & Nights (22:00 to 6:00).
About You
Relevant engineering qualifications and/or experience is required (eg; HND / HNC, Engineering Apprenticeship). A good standard of numeracy and literacy is essential.
Basic Qualifications / Skills
- Relevant qualifications/certificates and engineering experience (e.g. Engineering Apprenticeship, HNC/HND Level qualification).
- Applicants without an HNC level qualification need to have EngTech status (certificate) and have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- A good standard of numeracy and literacy.
- Hands-on experience of manufacturing processes and procedures (ideally obtained from working in a highly-regulated industry).
- Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
