The project:

In the energy sector, the UK will need to invest up to £900 billion of capital expenditure to enable a net zero economy by 2050. For our clients in the sector, this means realising the potential in low-carbon technologies and infrastructure through transformative delivery of complex projects and programmes.

This role is a unique opportunity to be a part of the UK’s response to the climate emergency. You will work with the portfolio lead in delivering distinctive value for our clients in gas transmission and distribution, and realising opportunities in hydrogen, carbon capture utilisation and storage, and the wider energy sector.

9. Ensures the project or programme is operating an effective risk management strategy with appropriate management actions and risk treatments established.
10. Responsible for conveying and connecting the wider business strategy to the project team and promoting the associated initiatives.
11. Manage internal and external project review/reporting meetings.
12. Actively networks and utilises the full depth and knowledge of the Mace Group and Centres of Excellence to support the project delivery.
13. Ensures projects are fiscally and ethically viable, influencing the achievement of business objectives and meeting organisational and legislative compliance obligations.

You’ll need to have:

1. Extensive experience in the successful delivery of major projects and programmes in the energy sector.
2. You’ll have a degree qualified with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or HNC/HND qualified with a minimum of seven years relevant experience. Member of a relevant professional institute.

You’ll also have:

1. Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
2. Deep gas infrastructure project management expertise.
3. Strong commercial and financial acumen.
4. Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
5. Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
6. Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
7. Extensive sector and/or market-specific experience, knowledge and contacts.
8. Extensive experience in successful delivery of major projects and programmes, through all project phases.
9. Leadership and management experience and capability to lead a large team.
10. Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable level of role knowledge (or equivalent).
11. Appropriate construction skills certification scheme (CSCS) card, or global equivalent MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS/MICE (or equivalent local certification).
