Your new company has a great opportunity for an established Biomass plant seeking an experienced hands-on Operations Technician to join the shift team to actively deliver planned and reactive first line maintenance, operational routines and testing requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operate the plant safely and within all environmental and operational limits at all times.
  • Monitor plant conditions and ensure Environmental Permit compliance; report any issues.
  • Carry out routine inspections, checks, adjustments, tests and record plant data.
  • Perform basic maintenance, fault-finding and defect rectification to support reliability.
  • Track plant performance and take action to improve efficiency.
  • Follow site safety rules, including authorised isolations and HV switching.
  • Support emergency drills and take assigned roles during abnormal situations.
  • Assist maintenance and fuel-handling teams, especially during deliveries and removals.
  • Support safe receipt of operational chemicals.
  • Help maintain accurate shift logs and record defects in the CMMS.
  • Follow all HSE policies and help update operational procedures.
  • Provide operational support during planned outages (may include day shifts).
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • ONC / C&G / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with thermal or process plant operations.
  • Good understanding of HSE; IOSH Managing Safely preferred.
  • Background in mechanical, electrical or C&I trades.
  • Basic knowledge of steam turbines, combustion, steam cycle chemistry, WTP, generators and emissions systems.
  • Able to operate HMI/DCS systems.
  • Licences for FLT, front loader, telehandler and grab crane.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office; experience with CMMS.
