My client - a civil engineering company based in Glasgow with a solid team of 40 engineers providing the most appropriate and cost-effective site assessment and remediation of contaminated soils, is looking for an Engineering Estimator.
As the Senior Estimator is from an Engineering background and went on to become the senior estimator, he would look at a site engineer, sub-agent or manager with good site experience looking to go into the office and would get trained up as an estimator, or an Estimator looking to join a company that is trusted by Property Developers, House builders, Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Supermarkets, dealing with projects ranging in value from under £5k to over £1m. They are ISO 9001 and 14001 certified, Construction line, CHAS and SMAS accredited and Achilles registered.
Services include:
- Environmental and geotechnical site investigation
- Invasive weeds survey and treatment
- On- and off-site remediation of contaminated soil
- Treatment of contaminated groundwater
Who they are looking for:
Their ideal candidate will have...
- Degree in a civil engineering / quantity surveying subject or comparable experience
- At least 5 years estimating experience, ideally including remediation and/or site investigation work
- Or an experienced site engineer / sub-agent or agent looking to get off
Essential Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence
- IT literacy (MS Office packages)
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with both colleagues and clients
The Role Involves:
- Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
- Ensuring documented approval of all tender and contract documents before issue
- Dealing with variations in the form of contract and contractual issues
- Reviewing both successful and unsuccessful bids to determine any lessons to be learnt, including conducting reviews when appropriate
- Subcontract procurement, ensuring maximum value for money
- Review of current estimating templates and terms and conditions
Location:
The successful applicant will be based in our Glasgow office, with the option of hybrid working after a successful period.
