Your new company is a well-established and growing process safety consultancy expanding its UK presence and technical capability. Operating across high-hazard industries, the team provides specialist process safety, engineering and management consultancy services to a broad client base within chemical manufacturing and associated sectors. With a strong hub in the North West and flexibility to be based from other UK offices, the business is focused on continued growth, technical excellence and professional development.
Your new role involves playing a key role in delivering and managing a diverse portfolio of client and internal projects. You will work closely with clients to improve the design, operation and maintenance of hazardous process facilities, applying your site-based experience to a wide range of industries. This is a customer-facing role, involving work across multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams. Projects will span high-hazard environments including chemical manufacturing, bulk storage, warehousing and related facilities across sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, explosives, waste-to-energy and hydrogen-related industries supporting energy decarbonisation initiatives. The role will involve travel to client sites across the UK, ranging from short visits to longer site-based assignments as required.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing process engineering standards, methodologies, procedures and supporting tools for clients.
- Conducting audits and technical reviews to assess compliance between documented procedures and site practices.
- Leading and participating in hazard identification and risk assessment studies, including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA.
- Providing process engineering input to design reviews, EHS studies and engineering projects.
- Delivering DSEAR-related consultancy and regulatory support.
- Undertaking on-site surveys of process plant to verify documentation and produce as-built information where required.
- Supporting the preparation of COMAH safety documentation and risk assessments.
- Managing project delivery to agreed quality, budget and timescale requirements while ensuring client expectations are met.
- Contributing to the development of cost-effective, practical solutions that support client sustainability and growth objectives.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Demonstrable experience within chemical or process-based manufacturing environments, including exposure to operational plant.
- Strong knowledge of UK process safety legislation and standards, such as COMAH, DSEAR and associated guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A collaborative, team-focused approach, with the confidence to contribute within multi-disciplinary project teams.
- High personal integrity, sound professional judgement and a proactive approach to problem solving.
