Our Engineering & Facilities Manager
This is a technical, engineering-led facilities role with responsibility for leading and developing a multidisciplinary engineering team across The Newt’s diverse estate. The focus is firmly on building services, plant, infrastructure, engineering compliance and maintenance rather than soft facilities services.
You’ll take ownership of planned and reactive maintenance through CMMS, drive asset reliability and minimise downtime, while working closely with operational teams and specialist contractors to keep our buildings, equipment and infrastructure performing at their best.
From engineering standards and compliance to budgets, contractors and continuous improvement, this is a varied leadership role at the heart of a complex operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, recruit, develop and support an expanding multidisciplinary engineering team across a range of trades.
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance through CMMS , ensuring work is prioritised effectively and asset downtime is minimised.
- Coordinate engineering and maintenance activity with hotel operations, production, housekeeping and visitor attraction teams to minimise disruption.
- Maintain high standards of engineering health, safety and compliance , including RAMS, COSHH, PPE and training requirements.
- Manage specialist contractors and external suppliers, including scheduling works, reviewing RAMS and coordinating access and permits.
- Monitor servicing, maintenance and operational R&M budgets, ensuring resources are used effectively.
- Report on engineering works, asset condition and compliance to the Head of Engineering and operational business leaders.
- Support Duty Engineers when required and deputise for the Head of Engineering.

What we're looking for
Qualified and time-served in an engineering discipline , such as Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing & Heating, Refrigeration or HVAC.
- Proven experience leading engineering or technical facilities operations across multiple sites , ideally within a complex operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of building services, plant, infrastructure and planned maintenance principles .
- Confident using
CMMS systems to manage maintenance activity, assets and workflows; experience with Infraspeak would be advantageous.
- An experienced people leader who can mentor, develop and motivate engineers across different technical disciplines.
- Strong contractor management skills, with a sound understanding of RAMS, permits, compliance and safe systems of work.
- Able to communicate technical issues clearly to both engineering specialists and non-technical operational colleagues; Siemens BMS experience would be advantageous.
- A calm, practical and decisive leader with strong organisational skills; an engineering degree, trade qualification and/or NEBOSH General Certificate would be advantageous.
- Where you'll be working
The Engineering Department looks after the Company's assets (Buildings, IT Infrastructure, Mechanical plant, and Vehicles), conducting scheduled checks and preventive maintenance in all areas of the estate.
Engineering also responds to guest requests should they have issues and to colleague requests from across the estate.
