We are proud to be representing a market leading engineering business in their search for a Mechanical Site Manager to work at a Food Manufacturing Facility based in Wakefield or York.
The Mechanical Site Supervisor will oversee the installation and repair of mechanical systems and equipment at an FMCG manufacturing site. The role involves ensuring that all mechanical activities comply with industry standards and regulations, supervising the mechanical team, and collaborating with other departments to optimize production efficiency. The Mechanical Site Supervisor will also have the responsibility of ensuring that mechanical projects are cost-effective and contribute positively to the company's financial performance.
Performance Objectives
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions to production.
- Organise labour, order materials, and supervise projects.
- Generate mechanical installation costings/quotations for all onsite mechanical activities.
Installation
- Oversee the installation of mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, ensuring prompt resolution.
- Good understanding of control system/process installation requirements.
Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of mechanical fitters, pipe fitters, and welders.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and develop individual development plans for team members.
- Ensure the team follows all safety protocols and procedures.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all mechanical work complies with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of mechanical work and inspections.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
- Generation of RAMβs for installation works.
P&L Responsibility
- Monitor costs and expenses to assist in budget preparation.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising on safety and quality.
- Ensure mechanical projects contribute positively to the overall profitability of the company.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving mechanical systems and processes.
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Person Specification
- Apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering/Installation.
- NICEIC Qualified Supervisor experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, SSSTS).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical installation, maintenance, and project management within the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record of supervising mechanical projects and leading teams.
- Experience in overseeing projects and ensuring they come in on cost.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical process systems and equipment used in the Food Manufacturing industry.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
It is essential you come from a mechanical engineering background and have pipework experience within the food sector.
