Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Mechanical Fitter to join our engineering team within our high-care food manufacturing facility. In this role, you will carry out general mechanical fitting duties, including removal of machinery and loading machinery ready for install at a different site.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Fitting Duties: Repair, overhaul, and install mechanical components, including conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, valves, and pneumatic systems.
  • Specialised Equipment Operation: Safely operate a telehandler to transport heavy machinery components and utilize mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) for high-level maintenance.
  • Hygiene & Food Safety: Maintain strict compliance with food safety standards (HACCP) and ensure all engineering work is conducted in a clean, hygienic manner that prevents product contamination.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to strict site safety rules, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and working-at-height permits.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Certification

  • CSCS Card: Valid card demonstrating site safety awareness.
  • IPAF Licence: Categories 3a (Mobile Vertical) and 3b (Mobile Boom).
  • Telehandler Licence: Valid NPORS or CPCS card for telescopic handlers.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter.
  • Prior experience within a food, beverage, FMCG, or pharmaceutical environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and pipework.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical technical drawings.
  • Understanding of food hygiene standards and high-care factory requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Working within a fast-paced food production facility.
  • Environments may vary between high-care cleanrooms, ambient areas, and cold storage.
  • Working at heights and confined spaces.

Working Monday - Friday, 11 hours days
